Hello my sister is blessed with a baby boy the baby is 8 days old . In the hospital the baby was fed formula as she had a C section. The baby is used to formula and doesn't latch at all and cries his lungs out to have bf please suggest what can be done.

Many Congratulations to her.
how long was she not allowed to bf her baby
please ask her to keep trying.
patience is the word here..I know its difficult but wil have to try

Hey, Sweta welcome to BABYCHAKRA
We are here to help you :)

If the baby is bottle fed it will be difficult to get him to latch on the breast. Your Friend can try first feeding a little top feed and then try putting her baby on her breast. even if baby suckles for a bit initially it is ok. She should express her Milk and give it to her baby if the baby just doesn't latch on.

same thing happen to me also I dint had milk so my mom gave top feed to my baby by spoon for 3 days and after that she S not at all ready to latch but tell ur sister to keep on trying or else show to lactician who helped me and teaches the baby to latch

Breastfeeding needs lot of patience and staying calm is very important. Do not let the baby go hungry, tell her to keep trying to latch her baby. She should also spend time snuggling up with her baby. when she is giving her baby top feed she should hold him close to her n feed him.

I agree with above suggestions

ya its if he is her first child it also be difficult for her make him breast feed even i deliverd the child one month back n this is my second issue still i was having problem in bf but keep on trying baby is too small but once he vl know how to feed the problem vl solve but this should be done by gr8 patience

I was having the same problem since my baby was premature born..and was in nicu...BT I kept trying always.. lastly she latches after a month ..BT mean that time I use to express my milk by using pump

Thanks all for the suggestions. . have shared with my friend. They had a meeting with lactation consultant today. just hoping the baby latches.
