There are two situations - low lying placenta and placenta previa. In placenta previa the placenta is on the mouth of the uterus. In this case there is no option but to have a cesarean birth because when labor starts the placenta will deliver before the baby and that is risky for the baby. A low lying placenta will generally move up in due course and it is a wait and watch situation. Even if the placenta is partially covering the cervix it may prove to be a challenge. For the moment relax. Check which of the above categories you fall into and then discuss the same with your doctor. If required you can always seek a second opinion.

this is my ultrasound report......

Sonali Shivlani

The placenta is low lying but not covering the cervix. There is a very good chance that it will move up. Repeat ultrasound in week 28.
