Sleep can be one of the most perplexing issues for new parents. The pattern of the baby's sleep is so unpredictable, which leads to a zombie like nights for most of the parents. This can be a challenging task as our bodies are not physiologically oriented to being awake all night.
;
Here’re some tips to manage with this erratic pattern of sleep:
;
- Babies are just blank slates, you can begin to teach your baby good sleeping habits by establishing a bedtime routine once the baby settles down to the new environment.
;
- As your baby's brain and central nervous system mature, her sleep cycles will get longer and more sleep will occur at night. Most babies adjust to the family timetable in a few months or so.
;
- A newborn cannot eat all that much in a single feed. If you are breastfeeding, the milk gets digested quickly, which means a baby can wake up hungry and ready to fill the belly. So make sure you feed them on demand. A well fed baby, sleeps well too.
;
- Try to nap during your baby's longer stretches of sleep.
;
- You can assist the sleeping process by differentiating day and night atmosphere like creating a calm, dark environment at night, while letting the sunshine in during the day.
;
- During daytime feedings, talk a lot to your baby, while at night feedings, make the surroundings quiet with as little light as possible.
;
- Remove any item from the sleeping area that could potentially suffocate or distract a baby, cause overheating, including blankets, pillows, stuffed animals, or quilts.
;
Remember, it is normal for babies to not sleep through the night, particularly the first three months of life. Some babies are better sleepers than others. But if you have concerns that something is causing your baby to wake during the night such as a cold, constipation, or gas, colic, please talk about it with your pediatrician.

Som, i hear you girl! its until 6 months atleast that the baby will set up a routine to sleep properly. Till then,just sleep when the baby sleeps and that is ofcourse not at night! Accept it,once you train ur brain that it is going to be like this fir next couple of months,you will sail through better and manage ur day and night accordingly. Just think,you are in night shift. Slowly starting 3 months, your baby will start sleeping in night in smaller stretches like 2 hours. Try sidelying feeding,it helps to get the desired sleep and your baby will be fed as well. Happy motherhood!

Hey that was my feed post well you can find all sorts of questions from me regarding breastfeeding, sleeping pattern etc. I can say we (me and my daughter ) have got through 75% in setting a sleeping pattern, of course sometimes she will surprise me with her cries and crankyness but I can say it's far better than the beginning. When ppl said babies doesn't sleep for 3 months 6 months some even said 1 yr in the night I was shocked. I tried all the tips given by our moms some worked some dint.. every baby is different so is urs but try everything. They advised me to keep dim light and show the difference between day and night etc but some days my lo wants to sleep right under the tube light and we switched off once she slept.. someone suggested to do even diaper change in dim light and u know what her poop was all over the bed because I couldn't see anything 😅 So I switch on the light and she is absolutely okay to back to sleep. For my daughter swaddle works did you try swaddling with ur baby? I also give her hot water massage with a turkey towel and she enjoys will have her eyes half closed. I also apply bit of coconut oil n massage her scalp. So I keep trying many things and we got things better she can sleep at a stretch for 3.5 hrs also after good feed. Do try all this.
