Q:

Hi, my baby is 2 and half months old and is underweight. He was born at full term weighing 2.34 kegs and dropped to 2.1kg in the first 1 week. So he was born a small baby. His weight growth rate has not been remarkable since then. Initially he was growing at 30gms per day but now it is even less. He was on exclusive breastfeed till last week and since the doc asked me to introduce formula , I’m giving him formula 2 times a day along with direct feeds. The little one is otherwise active and responsive. But I’m worried about this slow rate of growth. Should I be patient and wait for him to grow gradually.

I think if the baby is active and responsive you should not worry much about the weight..he will start gaining weight once he starts his solids..

After birth babies loose weight and then start gaining weight again... Keep feeding Ur baby regularly... If your baby is active and taking proper feed and have good pee count then nothing to worry.

hey anon, all babies lose weight in the first week and then gradually pick up. pls don't lose heart - just follow dr's advise. as long as baby is healthy, active and happy nothing else matters! pls don't stress about weight.

also pls feel free to use the growth tracker on the homescreen. it's helpful. tc
