Q:

My lo is 11 days old but he needs around 90ml of formula milk at a time.. is it normal?

My pediatrician told me that the total quantity of formula milk to be given to the baby in a day depends on the babys weight...so whwnever i visit my pediatrician he always tells me that ur baby now needs this much milk in a day according to babys weight so its better if u ask ur pediatrician

Hi
Please chk on pack for the quantity of milk to be given. Between y are you giving bottle feed.

It's normal for some babies to take more milk. Don't worry about how much baby drink untill they baby is putting on weight and growing. Each baby is different. Usually babies drink more milk from bottle compared to Brest feed so they end up gaining more weight. This information was actually given by our pediatrician. But do check on minimum how much ml of milk should the baby accept for the current weight. If your baby needs more then that,A then be happy to serve it.

Ur baby's formula need depends on his weight. Figure out ur baby's weight in pounds then multiply ur baby's weight with 2.5 the result is the formula need of ur baby in ounce. If ur baby's weight is 10 pound then he will need 25 (10x2.5) ounces of formula. Please note that this method is used before the required amount of formula is below 32 ounces. U cannot give ur baby more than 32 ounces in a day.

Revauthi Rajamani; I am on heavy antibiotics so can't breastfeed him.. that's the reason I am giving him formula milk..
