Q:

I am 30 weeks pregnant having gestational diabetes. I have been doing monitoring of sugar levels from the past 1 month. Attached is the pic of the levels. Some times levels go higher- 161, 171, 146 etc. My fasting levels in the morning are crossing 100 sometimes. Whether my sugar levels;; are ok or i need to take insulin? Experts kindly provide opinion.

Hi Renu gestational diabetes is very very common during pregnancy don't worry at all the levels are not very very high also but keep a check on what you are taking as a intake which is less in sugar and moreover you can instead include lot of greens in your diet and not of Methi in ur diet which will help you control the sugar level. And being active especially walking everyday would help alot. Take care.

Renu to take insulin or not your doctor has to decide, I took insulin my numbers were 110 fasting 150 pp. Anyways walking for 10 minutes after every meal will help you a lot.

I eat a lot of green vegetables. I also go for walk after meals.; I soak methi dana overnight and take it daily before breakfast.

Renu devide your meals in small portions. Eat after 2 hours. It will help you a lot.
Increase your protein intake and walk for half an hour in morning n evening daily

Consult your diabetic doctor. You have to increase your insulin units to keep sugar under control.

Please meet a good endocrinologist once. They suggest best. Are you following diabetes diet plan. That's most important. My sugar levels are under control after I went on diet.

Renu guess ur on the right track... GD is a temporary thing that happens during pregnancy. Insulin let dr decide... but yes u should stay active, take control on sugar intake , carbohydrates should also be in moderation and more of proteins, have lots n lots of water, oatmeal is another option for sugar control, methi dana Cross check with dr and have it ...normally it is very beneficial for diabetic people but in pregnancy i am not sure ... crosscheck with dr for its side effects .... relax ur mind and stay stress free as much as u can

Renu Sarawgi

Yes i am following diabetes diet plan.

If you are on diet and still your sugar level is high, I would suggest to meet endocrinologist. He will give you some light medicine. It's important to keep sugar level under control as this is the peak time when your fluid will increase due to sugar level. Please try to get it to normal level.

I am taking Glycomet sr 500 as recommended by physiologist but there is; hardly any impact on my sugar level.
