Q:

I know someone who took only green moong dal and after 20 days potatoes during her 40 day confinement period.. just to avoid gas in baby. Is this what we should be following? I wonder how will she get her own energy level back

By god! How did she survive. Rebecca Prakash can you help?

Richa Chowdhary

Hey Reeti.. nothin like that.. you can start eating normal food after one month or max 45 days... initial few days just eat light and not too oily or spicy food. Reason being your body is weak and need time to heal.. so oily spicy fast food might not be Able digest well

Well I followed 1 week of diabetic diet as I had gestational diabetes in my pregnancy, that's it. I have excess breast milk and the only secret is " I EAT EVERYTHING" I have no restrictions, I eat rajma, kabuli channa or name any food. My baby is 3 months and 17 days touchwood she has no gastric issues or Colic issues. I eat cold and hot food, We pass only the nutrients to our babies and nothing else.. Call me rebel but I'm against all this 40 days confinements and food restrictions. Planning to breastfeed my baby till she wants to wean off.

I have gas in my baby from day 1. I also stopped everything for a couple of days but doctor advised against it saying babies gas has nothing to do with your choice of food. We started to heat the stomach when he showed some improvement recently.https://youtu.be/05cpO7s-g40

These are few remedies you can try

When it comes to us, eat healthy is the only mantra

Rebecca Prakash did u eat chole rajme also during 40 day period?

Rebecca Prakash

Everything Reeti, as vidya kurada just pointed out baby's gas got no connection with our food, they inhale certain amount of air while taking breast milk which causes them Colic pains. That's why initial days burp after every feed is important. Later on babies will settle and they don't require burp after every feed.

+1 Rebecca Prakash I had everything from day I delivered my baby the 2nd meal I had in hospital was rasam rice... Rasam is considered hot because of pepper and garlic used in it but my baby had no issues of gas due to tat or anything i ate....I believe anything in moderate quantity will not cause any issues but yes burping in the initial days is very important to avoid gas in babies

Reeti

Alright... thanks for such important inputs people...
