Q:

I had a normal delivery 6 days back and got some stitches. the stitches caused only slight discomfort the first 3 days but after that they are hurting tremendously. my gynaec said they are healing well. but the pain is unbearable. I am on pain killer 3 times a day but the effect wear off in few hours.. is it for them to not hurt first few days and start hurtin later? what can I do to relieve the pain as it's causing alot of difficulty in feeding.

yes, it's is difficult to feed nd paining too. but it will be fine. it will take time. proper healing within 2 months. you should clean daily. put little dettol in warm water nd clean it. and after that apply betadine cream. this will give you relief.

If the pain is so uncomfortable you must have them checked again as it could be a sign of infection. Please read my article on post natal recovery and stitch care on Babychakra

Yes it hurts a lot. That too feeding baby is one big task as wel.  just think had it been c section, the pain and healing would have been much more worse and longer. You can use cold water to wash there and pat it dry. It takes a little more than a month to heal. Once the wound started healing.  it will start to itch as wel. So don't itch. Don't widen your legs much as wel. Ask someone to assist you when feeding  and all.
