Q:

is nebulisation safe when a child has severe cold and cough ??

Rhituparna Mitra

Priya Ghosh It is safe but should be done strictly on pediatrician's advice. Try steam instead - Why you must opt for steam for you and your child?

Priya Ghosh

Thanks Rhituparna Mitra currently nebusiling her on docs advise and using saline water for the same on paediatrician's advice

Sheeba Rizvi

Prithvi Balaji

actually steam is very effective compare to nebulization but maybe be initially do steam further if required continue with nebulizer.

Dr.Srujana Kona( PT)

Hi, nebulization is effective n safe than syrups. It goes directly to the lungs where really it has to work. If u take syrup dosage, the medicine we give is in mg but if u see respule we use for nebulization, it is in micro grams. And syrup mixes with blood n goes to all parts besides the lungs. But in nebulization, it goes directly to lungs. So less medicine, more n quicker effect. Even steam will work but they have to inhale the steam to have good effect. So, please follow ur doc's advice. But make sure that the medicine is given only  with doc advice
