My gynac says feed from one breast and alternate the other for next feed. However elders at home r saying feed from both the breasts each tym. confused !!! what to do ??

hi suhasini..
my personal opinion is ur gynaec is ryt..

Dr.Shilpitha Shanthappa is right... when baby starts to suck milk from one breast, the milk will be first low calorie, and gets thicker as baby drinks, if breasts are switched in between, baby may miss out on the higher calorie milk...

It is important that baby feeds long enough on the first breast. Offering the second breast just increases the Stimulation and hence can lead to adequate milk supply. The breast should be completely emptied then baby should be held upright for a burp and if required second breast can be offered.
