Mommy asks -

I have 1 child and me and my husband were hoping for 3 if possible. The thing is I wanted to know what are the chances of having twins thru artificial insemination. What are the % chance of convincing.  None of us have a history of twins in the families.

Pls pour in the experiences on misscarriage,  preterm birth,  low birth weight, birth defects, congenital anomalies on the matter.

usually in IVF there is 50% chance of having identical twins, but again it depends on the stage it is injected. there is a method called blastocysts in this If the eggs are left to develop for five to six days after fertilisation, the developing embryos are known as ‘blastocysts’ and the procedure of transferring them to the womb is known as ‘blastocyst transfer’ where the chance of a single embryo dividing and resulting in identical twins is also higher after IVF, particularly after blastocyst transfer, however it is not yet known why this happens. So it is possible to end up with twins from the transfer of a single embryo, or triplets from two embryos.

the above information had read in an article and gave you the same. in simple terms of you go for IVF you might end up with twins.

There are 50-50 chances. As no one can give cent percent assurance that you may get twins. In ivf there are many cases wherein couple have got twins. You have to consult the specialised person.
As you already have one kid... why you want twins? Are you ready to handle all three? Do family support you? I feel what comes naturally that is better. Sorry... But i think things lil differently..In today's world one kid is more than enough. To have one more...is most common practice. But purposefully planning for more than one... hmmm.... ( again personal choice). Whenever you plan for baby...always think of life after 20 yrs...how it will be. The education expenses, the medical one, kids special demands, and your own desires.

As Roopashree Siddireddy said is very true. Future we don't know but present you have kid, enjoy & fulfil all wishes in that one kid. God is always great.
