i m also having single umbrical artery... u have to wait 3 more weeks for getting your 3D scan done so as to know if any defect is there in foetus... even i had foetus echo test also for knowing if there is any defect in heart... single artery can lead to any body part defect, heart or kidney defect or slow growth of foetus... in my case its slow growth... my due date acc. to lmp was 3 may n acc to sonography it is now 30 may...

There are two umbilical arteries and one vein in the umbilical cord. The umbilical cord is the transportation link between the mother and fetus for all the nutrition that the fetus needs. A single umbilical artery can be associated with other fetal anomalies. However in your case the anomaly scan doesn't show any associated anomalies. Hence the  thing you now need to check on is the fetal growth and wt gain. Also it will be a good idea to get a fetal echo done at about 24weeks. Not all the fetuses with a single umbilical artery will lag in growth. However you need to met your doctor to plan out the exact further course.

thanks Dr charmi,so kind of u to answer,my doc suggested me to do the triple marker test for this, and as I mentioned in my query that they also found one superficial lake on placenta,is this also a sign of complication?
