iam 31 weeks 4 days pregnant . my scan at 30 weeks showed my babies abdominal circumference is lagging 2.5 weeks behind. rest everything was normal in report. just wanted to know is it normal is everything ok. plz suggest.

The baby swallows amniotic fluid and urinates in the uterus. This also affects the abdominal circumference. At times if the baby has just urinated and not swallowed enough the scan will show a lag. However since it is more than 15 days it is important that you increase good quality proteins in your daily diet and ensure that the situation is monitored more closely.

thanks shivani. my Dr recommended ecosprin daily after breakfast. she also advised to do brisk walking daily for 4 km. she said take low calorie high protein diet. my weight is 84 kg . she advised me to loose weight. she said less ur weight more the baby will gain. is she suggesting right.

she said she will do another scan at 34 weeks. should I wait that long.

Do it include proteins like paneer, moong, dhoklas in your diet.

thanks Lynette. taking protein more but in regular intervals of 2 hrs. moreover doing walking for atleast 4 km daily. keeping fingers crossed. keeping faith in the almighty.

there are certain measurements and ratios that we see on the growth scan to see if growth is progressing optimally. A small AC maybe significant, if other ratios and baby weight etc are also altered. a rescan will help.
