I have heard that citric fruits including grapes and there juices should not be given to babies ? why? and when can we start this juice and purees please advice

Sheeba Vijesh

i have heard that too.. it is because citrus fruits are acidic and can cause rashes or along with breastmilk can cause indigestion in babies. i, however, introduced oranges to my baby after 7 months without any problems in baby. if you want to, you can also try after 7 months and keep a watch on baby...

i agree with Sheeba. Citric juices should be given after 1 year...that too if baby is comfortable. They will get reflux wherein they may vomit. Give other fruits and vegetables.

Do you agree Harneet Khurana, Ankita Popli?

Citrus fruits can take a little longer to digest and an infants stomach is still developing. They can be slowly introduced between 9-12 months depending on the other weaning processes that have been followed.

i was also told to avoid as baby's throat is delicate. so i think i started most of them after 1 yr. if the fruit is super sweet it should be okay. grapes they say avoid till 1 yr. pomegranate is healthy but would always give my baby a throat problem :( good luck!

u can definitely give citrus fruits to ur baby, but only after 12 months ,these fruits are the richest source of vit C and vit C is also needed for kids it helps in their development, you can even give just one drop of it in one or two days to ur child at the age of 9 onwards.
