Q:

my baby seems hungry even after I feed him.. can I use formula along with breast feed? how many times in a day can I give him the formula feed?

Sheeba Rizvi

Dear Malini try to feed him as soon as you feel he is hungry coz your production  of milk is also based on your feeds...as much as you feed your baby milk will be increasing so avoid thinking of fm. if you feel baby is crying or not sleeping comfortably bcz his tummy is not full then my dear this can be  other reasons as well such as colic or wetness of pee or poop so check these too. Sheeba Vijesh what do you think .?

Aloka Mehta Gambhir can you please advise?

Sonali Shivlani

If baby is urinating about seven times a day then formula feed is not required. Baby is in a new environment and is naturally looking for comfort. just relax and try other calming and distracting techniques  Trust in yourself that your feed is enough. You should also have the weight check done at the doctor's clinic monthly as this will reassure you that all is well.

how old is the baby? if the diaper output is fine then you should be ok. i always recommend to put the baby in a cloth baby carrier after he is fed so that they are still on your chest where they want to be. so most often it's not that he is still hungry but just wants to be held and soothed on the breast. if weight gain and diaper output is fine then most porbably you don't need formula. good luck.

Why do u feel he is hungry after feeding? May be he cries even after feeds. Babies do not cry just for hunger. If the latch is perfect, pee count more than 6-8 times in 24 hrs and overall weight gain within normal rage then he is getting adequate.
