We had a very pleasant experience with our lactation consultant Jui Shinde who provided me with the support I needed during my pregnancy in preparation for the big day. All my doubts and lack of prior understanding was cleared and I was mentally prepared for my breast feeding journey when it came to the very first day. She also visited me in hospital after my delivery to see that I was doing ok and when I needed to consult her post delivery when I was back home, to check on my latch, she was able to give me the support needed.

I delivered my baby girl on March 13th 2016, and I am still breast feeding her, aiming to keep going till she reaches the age of two.

I had cracked nipples, bleeding but I still forged on with out giving up. If I wasn't prepared I may have felt that this was not happening for me and given up on breastfeeding my self. I know that some mothers may not be able to feed due to a health reason, but I also feel that many mums fall off the bandwagon of breast feeding too easily with out trying, just because they are not prepared for the inevitable discomfort that comes with it. It is no doubt a scary and vulnerable time and having help with lactation during this time is vital for most to get through those initial hurdles.

Not only had my baby gained her birth weight after ten days, when we went in for her two week check up she had gained 500g on top of her birthweight. For me, that moment felt like Christmas.
