Update from a visit to the new Girias Explorium on Inner ring road (Domlur)as on June 1, 2015 :: 1) Wasnt too sure if they had parking and hence took an auto ... looks like they have some basement parking ... else upto 5 cars or so can be parked on the footpath 2) Entry charge was Rs.600 for child and Rs.200 for adult. This is the weekday charge (10:30am-4pm) ... else its 750+250 3) Apart from the play area (the climbing ones), there are other area like the water splash, magnetic stuff, JCB lifting sand, blocks, meccanix kinda stuff, books to read, soft area with bug look alikes, a nice supermarket with toy veggies etc and a very nice kitchen with toy utensils cooking range etc.On floor 2,they have a toy store, cafe and washrooms 4) Older kids might enjoy the science related stuff (how things work kinds) and the younger ones appreciate the water and the climb zones. The kitchen area was a superhit with my kiddo 5) The entire place according to me is not padded enough incases where kids have a fall (unlike the other soft play areas we know of) .. a friends kid actually had a fall and a bump on his forehead ! 6) The climb zones are interesting with numerous entries and exits ... however, not all looked safe ... couple of places where kids could easily fall through incase they cant land on the metal ladders properly !! Looked dangerous to me ! 7) The floor in the water splash area is wet all the time (the anti skid tiles dont really seem to help) ... kids and adults alike need to be careful while walking here (NO running) ... there was a person mopping the place but not that regularly ... 8) Each area has a person (most of the times) explaining to children the concepts/wts to be done etc 9) Cafe has very limited choices esp for younger children ... more pastries and a few savories ... smileys was the only rescue. Ice cream just wasnt ok and the Veg kathi roll spicy as hell 10) Beware of the bathrooms .... the girls bathroom had a wierd ramp at the entry and also to one of the toilets (once u enter) ... its probably meant for wheelchair access but looks too small for that either. The ramp is sudden and very deceiving. My friend had a nasty fall (trying to protect her child from getting hurt) .... and in the process broke her tooth and injured her jaw/gums !! In all, there's quite some child and adult proofing to be done to the place ... until then its really NOT so safe specially with younger children (under 6)
