ETL books are very much the talk around the moms group... I got my set of ETL books last year...and using it since then for my boys who are 4.2 and 2.2yrs now. . I Agree that the books are priced steep. .. But there is no doubt that they are amazing where the concept and the material is related.
As we look out for things with age specific, here I realized that I could read a book at the same time to my kids who have a 2yrs difference of age. This proved to me that it's only clothes that I need age specific and not learning and knowledge . .. This is definitely a brilliant tool for homeschooling... But how I wish the concept in India of homeschooling is yet to set in and so we all have a social norm to fulfill by sending our kids to school. My elder one goes to a school which has ICSE... I still recall that day when we had a list of schools written, visited each of them for forms and waited till the seat confirmation.. As if that was the day I could earn success for my child and rest was all sorted... But nevertheless i realized that this was the beginning where my child has to earn the success himself... Day by day the kids are proving to me that my efforts are worth and they are not going down the drain...the best part is I am learning along with them and its actually fun to build a healthy habit if Reading.. Wherein tomo even academic books would be fun, so there would not be a evil pressure of preformance...Few things that come to my mind that we have learn together in a fun way..
1) Why the helicopter does not need a runway ?
2) which fish has a light on the head?
3) How much honey does a bee make in life time?
4) how many teeth the snake has?
5) why does a dog sniff before he pisses?
I don't think any school has a structure to teach each kid as per his or her intelligence or grasping.. And nor can the child be promoted to next level if a genius...he has to wait and go along with the crowd... So here I help my child grow overall and also do not kill his natural ability to think and reason and can see the results..
I hope my review will help many moms to look at the ETL Books beyond the price and as a asset to be possessed and to be passed on to next generations.
