With valentine’s day right around the corner, the pressures of gift giving just went up a notch. Getting your husband a gift that he would really love and use is all we women want. As times are changing, the variety of gifts has increased largely. Although you would think this is a good thing, it really just makes the decision harder when you go to the shop and realise how little you know about your husband’s tastes.

Here are some things you can gift your sweetheart this valentine’s day.

1. A good cologne

This gift is one you can never go wrong with. Having lived with your husband, I’m sure you have picked up on the types of fragrances he prefers. Getting him a nice cologne or perfume would definitely ensure one fact, that he will use it. Men go through colognes and deodorants like toilet paper. So, this is one gift he would definitely appreciate at any point of time.

2. Funky boxers

Everyone loves funky things. Well, at least most people these days do. Hence, gifting your husband a few pairs of quirky and funky boxers is a cute way of telling him you know his needs. This is a cute tease of a gift especially for wives. Lets face it you are probably the person who sees your partner in boxers the most and it hints at a kind of bond that is exclusive to only the both of you. Also, your partner will never not need boxers so I can at least assure you that this gift won’t go to waste.

3. A beard grooming set

Now, this gift is exclusive to those women with husbands who have beards. Guys these days are especially concerned about their beards. Gone are the days when vanity was exclusive to women. Men too like maintaining a well-groomed look and on a side note women too love well-groomed men. Hence, getting him a nice grooming set would definitely ensure you some extra points as a wife. Moreover, grooming sets come in varied prices so feel free to pick one that suits your budget.

4. Fitness watches

This could be a rather expensive gift but men do in fact love their gadgets. Fitness watches is in fact a new ‘trend’ if you will. However, no one’s complaining as this gift also makes your husband conscious about his health and hence serves a benefit for you too. He will be so excited about this new gadget that would definitely make sure to try it. Hence, if you’re struggling to push your husband out for a walk or a jog this is a good way of doing so.

5. Make him a coupon book

By this I don’t mean include actual coupons for free milk or a toothbrush, make him a personalised coupon book that he can ‘cash in’ when he wants. As clichéd as this sounds, it is in fact a gift your husband would love. Include things like a back massage, free kisses or even more intimate things. You could also include things like ‘a day off from cleaning the dishes’ and other small things you know your husband would like. However, make sure you write in things you know you’d be willing to do an any time as this could backfire on you.

6. Take him on a ‘blind date’

No, I definitely don’t mean set him up on a date with a stranger, but rather literally blindfold him and surprise him by setting up a romantic meal with his favourite dishes or drive him to a restaurant he has always wanted to visit and other things on similar lines. The basic idea behind this is building the suspense which only intensifies the gift.

7. Don’t be yourself

Yes, you read that right, that’s exactly what I said. However, in this case I mean quite literally don’t be yourself. This was a tip I picked up from a TV show where you sort of ‘role play’ any character you want to be. Take your spouse out for dinner and adopt a completely different persona. This is in fact a very helpful tip in keeping the romance alive as well as you are then forced to not talking about your kids, or responsibilities or chores. It’ll kind of be like meeting for the first time. Yes, it sound super silly but trust be it could be a lot of fun and your husband would love it.

8. Picture hanging from balloons

Nothing says valentine’s day like some heart-shaped balloons. This is a very sweet thing you can do for your husband by attaching pictures of the both of you to a string hanging from balloons and let it hang from your ceiling. You can also make it more personal by adding cute notes of inside jokes between the two of you or attaching something you have saved from your relationship like a ticket from your first movie together. This will definitely make your husband feel loved and special.

9. Go out on a day of rejuvenation

A spa day is not only loved by women but men too. Plan a day at the spa or any place where the two of you could relax and get pampered. Your husband would definitely have nothing but gratitude for this one. A good stress buster is sometimes all men need to feel better and doing this with someone he loves only makes things better.

10. Breakfast in bed

Possibly the most overused trick in the book, this is still definitely a classic way of showing someone you care for them. Something about food and bed always seems to get men excited. So, whip up a nice hearty breakfast of your partner’s choice and bring it to bed with a cute message or card with it. It helps if the food is heart shaped considering the occasion but this is up to you. This way you and your husband also get some nice one-on-one time together before you get up and about with your daily routines. Make sure you prolong this time together as much as you can because let’s face it, once you’re out of bed your back to the real world and your busy day has indeed begun.
