There are very few experiences as universal and yet unique as being a mother. Mother’s Day is a perfect time to celebrate the little things we do with our children – the special moments and the magical experiences that often happen unexpectedly. So here are 5 ways to celebrate mother’s day with your toddler!

Get Pampered

Every mother silently aspires to be pampered by their child/ren on this day. And yes, that’s possible if you have toddlers too! Take help from your spouse and issue a list of services you expect on the day. Let your kids provide the service and check the item or you can even make coupons with one wish each and give to your kids. Now this becomes a game for the kids too. See the gleam in their eyes that they have been able to do something special for you and make you happy. The list could include simple things like:

1. An hour alone so that you can call a friend or take a long shower
2. A chance to sleep late in the morning
3. No sibling fights for an hour
4. Anything else you would really love

Make some Memories

On this special day, have your children place their hands and feet into a shallow tub of colorful, nontoxic paint. Spread out a roll of paper, and have everyone press their hands and feet onto it, leaving their prints behind. Label each handprint and footprint with the person’s name, the date, and special message to Mom, and allow your collective masterpiece to dry. Try this activity again next year, and see how much bigger some hands and feet have become!

Plant some Flowers

If you have some extra space in your garden or balcony, you can create a real, live Mother’s Day canvas. First, buy packets of seeds of different plants that grow fast and well in your region. Then have your kids draw a picture or write a short message (like “We love Mom”) in the garden soil with a stick. Drop the flower seeds into those written lines; cover them up, and water every few days. Before long, your picture (or message) will be blooming, and you’ll have a Mother’s Day gift that keeps on growing.

Generations Together

Organize a small get together. Invite your mother and mother-in-law too. If you are lucky, invite your grandmother too. What better way to celebrate mother’s day than all generations together! It would create a lifetime memory for the entire family.

Share Your Happiness

There are many mothers who do not have their children with them and there are many children who do not have mothers to shower their love on them. Spend the day with your child in an orphanage or old age home. Share your happiness and love! It only grows when you share.

In the end, it doesn’t matter what you get as gift, the important thing is to do something out of the ordinary. A hug, a kiss, a kind word or a quiet walk together can all make a mother’s spirits soar!

So whatever you might do with your family on Mother’s Day, don’t miss to share your moments here.
