The role of the right gynaecologist can’t be emphasized enough for a memorable experience of childbirth and also to help you tide over the day-to-day queries & concerns during pregnancy. We asked moms in Bangalore for their choice of gynaecologists and here’s a list we put together.

1. Dr Fatima Punevala

Qualifications/Work Experience: Dr. Fatima Punevala is an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, who has been trained in Mumbai and has obtained further expertise and MRCOG from England. She is known for her specialisation in water births and VBACs. 

 
2. Dr Brunda Channapa
 
Qualifications/ Working Experience: Dr. Brunda Channapa has completed her MBBS from Bangalore University, DGO and MD from Kuvempu University and MRCOG from London. She has also served in Bangalore for 10 years. She is known to be patient, straight forward and doesn’t prescribe unnecessary medications.  

  
3. Dr Prakash Kini
 
Qualifications/Working Experience: Dr Prakash Kini has done his MBBS – B.J. MEDICAL COLLEGE, PUNE, MD – Obstetrics & Gynaecology, DGO – KEM Hospital Mumbai. He is known for experience in IVF, Intrauterine Insemination. Very professional and approachable person.

4. Dr Padmini Isaac
 
Qualifications/Work Experience: Dr. Padmini Isaac is one of our senior most Obstetricians and Gynaecologist who has over 3 decades of experience in her speciality and she has completed her MBBS and later went on to do her DGO, MD from Bangalore University. She holds the distinction of being the former Head of Department at St. Martha’s Hospital for over a decade. She is known for consulting high risk pregnancies successfully.
 
 5. Dr Gayathri Kamath
 
Qualifications/Work Experience: Dr Gayathri’s expertise lies in the field of high-risk obstetrics, medical disorders in pregnancy, gynaecologic disorders and oncology. Being a life member of Bangalore Society of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Federation of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of India, she has 20 years of expertise to back her up. She has been on the National Advisory Board for cervical cancer prevention.

She is known for her calm and composed demeanour, answers queries of parents.

6. Dr Geetha Beliappa

Qualifications/Work Experience: Dr. Geetha Beliappa is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Fortis Hospital, Bangalore. An MBBS and MD in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, she has also been trained in hysteroscopy, laparoscopy, artificial insemination and in-vitro fertilization. Her expertise lies in conducting deliveries under analgesia (painless deliveries), high risk pregnancies, infertility and gynaecological oncology, vaginal hysterectomy and laparoscopic surgery. In a career filled with remarkable achievements and establishments.

She is known for her professional approach and always makes it a point to give solutions to any queries and doubts. Dr Geetha Beliappa is known for her vaginal deliveries. She is also experienced in handling emergency cases well.

7. Dr Praveena Shenoy

Dr. Praveena Shenoy has been awarded in Obstetrics Category for handling the most number of deliveries in a single month. “Dr Praveena Shenoy is absolutely par excellence. She is certainly a busy doc and you have to wait for over an hour even with appointment, but she is worth the wait. Once with you, she gives you complete attention, answers all questions patiently, and gives you confidence. When my water broke, I was in labour for over 9 hours. I could have a normal delivery only because she was adamant about it and gave me confidence. Even in middle of her OPDs, she came and visited me at least 3-4 times. She is very sweet and made my pregnancy and delivery a beautiful journey” says Momstar Debarati Das.

 8. Dr Latha Venkatraman

Qualifications/Work Experience: Dr Latha Venkataram specially qualified and trained in OBG and Medicine, has an extensive experience in Medical disorders in Pregnancy (high risk) both in United Kingdom and Bangalore, India. She is currently the senior OBGYN specialist and Chief Co-ordinator, Department of OBGYN, Wockhardt Hospital, Bangalore.

She has special interest in Obstetric intensive care and emergency Obstetric care and has treated many patients who are critically ill. Her main interest in the field of Gynaecology is vaginal surgeries and has skill and experience in removing large Uteri vaginally.
“She is one of the senior most gynaecologists in Bangalore today. She is such a great person who would advise you from womanhood including pregnancy to menopause. I have a personal experience of being taken care by her and her assistants. Someone you can completely rely on”, says Momstar Rashmi Tejanik.
