Raksha Bandhan is a special occasion to celebrate an emotional bonding between a brother and his sister by tying a holy thread around the brothers wrist. This thread which pulsates with sisterly love and sublime sentiments, is called the Rakhi. It means a bond of protection and Raksha Bandhan means that the strong must protect the weak from all that's evil.
But, this does not end here. As the Raksha Bandhan rituals end, the celebrations begin. During this day, it is more like a family union in most of the households. Family members exchange gifts with other well wishers and relatives.

1. Kabuli chana (white chick peas) , soaked overnight and cooked – 1 cup
2. Paneer (cottage cheese) cubes – ½ cup
3. Sliced onions – ½ small
4. Sliced capsicum – ½ small
5. Sliced tomatoes – ½ small
6. Oil – 1/2 tsp
7. Finely chopped garlic (lehsun) – 1 tsp
8. Dried fenugreek leaves (kasuri methi) – ½ tsp
9. Turmeric powder (haldi) – 1/4th tsp
10. Chilli powder – 1/4th tsp (alter as per taste)
11. Coriander-cumin seeds (dhania-jeera) powder – ½ tsp
12. Garam masala – ½ tsp
13. Salt – use minimum, to taste
Heat the oil in a broad non-stick pan and add the cumin seeds. When the seeds crackle, add the garlic and onions and sauté on a medium flame for 2 minutes. Add the kabuli chana, other veggies and all the masalas. Add paneer and salt and sauté for 5 mins. Serve hot.
