As you reach Week 8 of pregnancy, your baby has completed its embryonic stage and is now officially a foetus (about the size of a kidney bean).

The brain will now have nerve cells that are branching out and will connect with each another. You could find yourself wondering about the gender of your child, but external genitals are yet to develop to reveal your baby’s sex.

By this week, the foetus will have tiny webbed hands and feet. Eyelids which have formed now almost cover his eyes. Breathing tubes extend from his throat to the branches of his developing lungs, and the tail we spoke about in Week 7 is just about gone. Your baby is constantly moving and shifting, even though you still can’t feel it.
