Breastfeeding is an art that can be learned by every woman. As first-time moms, you might face a few issues while breastfeeding but they can be managed easily with the right technique and guidance. Here are 2 such common breastfeeding issues and their management:

· Biting while breastfeeding

A lot of women complain that their babies tend to bite while breastfeeding. This most commonly happens when the bay isn’t able to latch properly while feeding or is have a shallow latch. To ensure a proper latch make sure your baby is opening his/her mouth wide when the nipple is offered to him/her and he/she takes the entire nipple, as well as the dark, area around the nipple (areola) inside the mouth. When the latch is proper or deep the mother wouldn’t be able to de-latch the baby easily.

· Baby not feeding for long

One of the reasons for this to happen is that the mother is having an overwhelming let-down (high breastmilk supply) in which the baby receives too much/ enough breastmilk in a shorter duration. In this situation, a 1-month baby might feed for about 7mins on an average where it actually needs to be fed for about 15-20mins. So, it’s completely fine for your baby to get satisfied in about 5-7mins if your milk supply is good.
