The year 2017 may have passed, but it was a happening one, wasn’t it? Especially when it came to some highly entertaining movies, 2017 had a lot to offer. We had Bahubali 2 which answered the burning question, “Why Kattappa killed Bahubali?”

We had movies dedicated to a social cause like, ‘Toilet Ek Prem Katha’. But what we liked best is the variety of fun, family-friendly movies for everyone to enjoy.

So bring your tub of popcorn and get your movie nights planned out, because you’re going to love this list of movies that we loved too!

Tumhari Sulu

Er…we are not endorsing Vidya Balan’s sultry “hello…” but we liked the fact that Tumhari Sulu brought attention to the unsaid and unrealised dreams of stay-at-home moms. The trials and emotions that Sulu’s family goes through aren’t unlike our own. In the end, the message is clear, everyone has a life and no one should be taken for granted.

Jagga Jasoos

The movie wasn’t a box office hit, but the songs, the picturization, and the never-give-up attitude of the lead actor makes it a fun watch. Younger kids might not understand the storyline, but who cares when you have so much colour and music on screen?

Hindi Medium

A subtle gem, this movie hit the nail on the head when it came to pointing out a glaring issue of modern parenting. Admitting a child into a ‘reputed’ English medium school is every urban parent’s dream. But this dream comes with a price. A must-watch, for Irfan Khan’s acting especially.

Secret Superstar

What happens when you have a burning desire to achieve something and several obstacles line your way? You still nurse the desire, work super hard and make sure everything works for you. Insiya’s passion to become a rockstar could never have been possible if she didn’t believe in her dream. A lovely family movie.

Coco

This one is colourful, thoughtful, funny and musical. Like Secret Superstar, Coco also talks about following your dreams. But the characters and songs are what makes Coco such a great watch. Undoubtedly one of the best movies of 2017, Coco should definitely be on your must-watch list if you haven’t already.

Boss Baby

Sibling rivalry is a delicate boat to maneuver and when it enters troubled waters, the voyage can get challenging. When Tim’s younger sibling walks in with a business suit and a briefcase, he feels extremely threatened. An imaginative narrative follows, which makes Boss Baby a fun watch.

Cars 3

Kids love the Cars franchise, but what’s special about Cars 3 is that it talks about realising when to give up and move on and when to persist and persevere. Another good thing about the movie is it does not limit the thrill of racing to boys. This time, a girl car steals the thunder, reminding us that there’s a bit of vroom in a girl as well.

Wonder Woman

The title says it all and Gal Gadot is who we need to raise strong girls and feminist boys. This action-packed flick will have the entire family rooting for their favourite superhero, this time a woman. Give this movie a try, you’re sure to enjoy!

Have we missed any movie? Let us know in comments! What was your most loved movie from 2017?
