Chana Dal Barfi- An Easy To Make Indian Sweet
Today, I would like to share one of my favourite sweet dish that I love since my childhood.Chana Dal barfi is; a sweet dish similar to Maharashtrian puran Poli.So here is the recipe.
Chana Dal 1 cup
Milk - ½ litre
Ghee - 1 cup
Cardamom - 2
Dates - 4
Dry fruits (Cashew, Almonds, Raisins)
1- Wash 1 cup of chana Dal and deseeded dates; and cook it on a low flame in half litre of milk.You can add some water if the milk dries until the Dal gets soft.
2- When the Dal gets to room temperature grind it along with cardamom to make a thick paste.
3- Now heat heat a kadhai and put ghee in it. When ghee melts put the Dal and stir the mixture continuously.Keep stirring until the Dal absorbs all the ghee.You can also add some more ghee if you like.
4- Now, add powdered sugar in it and stir again.Keep stirring and until the color changes to a little deeper. The Dal would leave the kadhai and become thick.
5- Add finely chopped dry fruits into it and Switch off the flame.
6- Grease a big plate or tray .Pour the mixture and roll it with wet rolling pin until smooth surface
7- Cut it with knife in diamond shapes.
8- After 2 hours, separate all the pieces and enjoy the barfi.
