Most of us keep looking for quick  recipe ideas and here’s my recipe of instant rava mix which I store and make a variety of South Indian meals using the ‘Masala rava mix’.

Ingredients:

Oil

Mustard seeds

Curry leaves

Coriander leaves

Salt

Rava

Ginger

Green chillies

Chana dal

Urad dal

Method:

  1. Heat oil in A kadai and add mustard seeds, chana dal and urad dal.
  2. Fry for a while and then add green chillies, finely chopped ginger, curry leaves, coriander leaves.
  3. Now, add rava to it. Fry till it changes its color slightly and can smell its aroma.
  4. Add salt and let it cool.

You can store it in an airtight jar  and prepare a variety of snacks quickly.

For Rava Idli: Take 1 cup ready mix and 1 ½ cup curd. Mix well and allow to rest for 5-10 mins. You can add little baking soda or eno salt, a pinch( optional). Mix it well and pour in idli mould and prepare idli within minutes.

For Rava Paddu: Same as above. Add some chopped onions and bake on paddu mould.

For Rava Dosa: Add 1 cup ready mix,  ½ cup maida and 1 cup rice flour. Mix with water .Now, make dosa on nonstick tawa.

For Rava Pakoda: Add 1 to 2 cups onions, ½  rava mix and ½ cup besan. Mix well and deep fry .

For Rava Upma :- Boil 2 cups of water and add 1 cup of ready mix to this, while stirring constantly. Simmer it for few minutes, on a low flame. And add extra coriander leaves and ghee before serving.
