Saif Says Taimur is Outdoorsy and Busier Than He Is!

Taimur is undoubtedly one of the cutest kids in B-town, thanks to his infectious smile and chubby cheeks. The little prince is pampered, and one might think he’s entertained a lot by nannies and gadgets indoors to stay away from the paparazzi. But according to daddy Saif Ali Khan, Taimur is curious, loves the outdoors, does yoga and is busier than him!

Saif told the DNA in an interview, “Taimur wakes up at 7.30 am, I am up by 9 am. He comes, takes the torch by my bed and puts it in his mouth like the doctor. He keeps doing things like that. He likes to see the moon, which is nice. He watches it before he goes to sleep every day. He loves nature and is quite outdoorsy. He imitates us doing yoga by making some painful noises which obviously, I’m making while I’m stretching. He does a good side bend and falls over,” says Saif.

Sounds like Kareena and Saif have a inquisitive child to raise and that’s great!

With smartphones and tablets, kids rarely play outdoors and connect with nature. But it’s upto us parents to give our kids opportunity to explore the outdoors. Its healthier, after all!

Here’s how to.raise an outdoors-loving child:

Take them out often

Avoid malls and indoor areas as play areas. Take your kids out at least once a day and let them observe the leaves, insects, grass etc. During monsoons, send them out when rains stop in pockets, even if it means downstairs.

Give up the strollers

Once your tot can walk well, allow them to use their feet outdoors and avoid using the prams outside. Start with grassy patches. Allow them to explore and feel.

Don’t help unless your kid is really in trouble

Does your kid ask for help when s/he’s stuck on the jungle gym? Encourage her to get unstuck. Avoid helping unless your child is in pain or crying uncontrollably. This will give him/her confidence to use his/her body outdoors.

Be consistent

Be consistent with the outdoors. Use the weekends to drive outside the city. Get familiar with gardening and other nature-friendly activities.

Here’s to raising more nature-loving kids!
