During summer holidays, my hubby and I took the kids to a water park. It was scorching in the month of May and yet we planned our short trip. All four of us had a great time, but the next day, I was completely put off when both my children complained of itchiness. The heat rashes made my wee duo totally cranky. They were very uncomfortable and drove me up the wall!
I called for some ice cubes from the room service of our hotel. It gave momentary relief and as soon as the ice cubes melted, their complaints began, once again.
I had band aids and other SOS medicines, but nothing that could solve their problem of prickly heat. This was the first time they got rashes of such a magnitude!
On our way back, with the kids constantly complaining of discomfort, we stopped at a supermarket to buy snacks for the road trip. There, I noticed my hubby asking the attendant for some prickly heat powder. I immediately took matter into my own hands, scanned through the shelves, and spotted Himalaya Soothing Calamine Baby Lotion.
Himalaya is a trusted brand and I have used their baby care products such as wipes, shampoo, body lotion, etc., before. Still, out of habit, I checked the ingredients of the product and saw that like all other Himalaya products, this one too had an herbal formulation and contains Aloe Vera. That totally won me over and I bought it.
I applied the lotion on both my kids, hoping that they will be fine throughout the drive. My 7-year-old, who has a hyperactive olfactory sense, smelled the lotion and (thank God) let me apply it all over his body. This meant that he liked the smell of it! My 4-year-old put it all over her face too.
After a few hours, I reapplied the lotion.
The fact that the kids slept for most part of the remaining journey and didn’t complain of the rashes was testimony to the effectiveness of this product. However, once we reached home, the first thing I did was check on the condition of their rashes. The redness had almost vanished along with 90% of the rashes.
Despite the improvement in their condition, I decided to take them for a visit to their regular pediatrician. The doctor reprimanded us for not using sunblock, but also seconded our decision to use Himalaya Soothing Calamine Baby Lotion. The doctor’s stamp of approval made it a permanent part of our skin care kit!
I wish I had known about Himalaya Soothing Calamine Baby Lotion before or had it with me already. That would have surely prevented my kiddos from suffering during their mini getaway!
I still use it on both my kids even if there’s no rash. The combination of Calamine, Nutgrass, Aloe Vera, and Mustard in this product makes it totally skin-friendly and keeps the skin soft, smooth, and free from any spots. I have even started applying it if I notice any kind of mosquito or insect bites on the children. It soothes the skin and gives immediate relief.
Now, it’s a must have in my household and I will make sure I carry it whenever I travel with the kids next!
