Work. Home. Husband. Kids. A mother’s job is never done and never easy. But somehow, mothers do it all, and look fabulous while doing so. Looking fabulous often includes an elaborate morning grooming routine. But sometimes the workload is too much for you and it is difficult to complete your entire morning routine before you get work done. Also, you tend to get too busy to remember to restock your dressing table. This sometimes forces you to skip the morning grooming and nothing’s more off-putting than knowing you’re going to look like a mess the whole day.

That’s why we’re here to help. If you find yourself in this position more often than you can forgive yourself for, we have a few life hacks for you. These will help make sure you look as fresh as a daisy every day.

1. Baby oil as a highlighter

Baby oil is great to use as a highlighter as well as an anti-ageing formula. When you don’t have time in the morning for your entire makeup routine, just dab a little bit of baby oil on your cheekbones to highlight your face. Watch the magic as it keeps you looking bright throughout the day. Now you know the secret behind all those shiny models in your favourite magazines. Additionally, the oil is not harsh on your skin. It gradually makes your skin look younger and keeps it looking healthy for longer.

2. Puffy eyes

Did your kids keep you up late last night? Have you woken up this morning with puffy eyes? Don’t worry, we have a solution for you. Before you start getting ready, put a metal spoon in the freezer. After a few minutes, take the spoon out and put the back or the outwardly curved part of the spoon on your eyelids. Keep it there for a few minutes as you rest and the spoon will do the rest. Another way to avoid waking up with a puffy face is to keep your head elevated as you sleep. You can use another pillow to achieve this (just make sure you don’t strain your neck).

3. Grey hair

Stress has been getting to you from work and managing kids and to the house. Stress can result in gray hair. You look into the mirror in the morning and see you suddenly have gray roots that are visible. There’s no way you have time to color it. What do you do? Eye-shadow! Yes, you heard us. Use an eye-shadow. Just brush some black eyeshadow onto the grays and it’ll keep them covered for the day. It’s quick and easy and keeps the grays from showing until you can get a hair touch up.

4. Stand-in foundation

Sometimes you find yourself in a situation where you don’t realise how much of your foundation you’ve used up until you wake up one morning, in a rush to get ready, and you find that you only have a few drops left. When you find yourself in this situation, all hope is not lost. There is a way to make your own foundation with other things from your makeup kit, specifically concealer and moisturizer. Mix a few drops of concealer with about the same amount of moisturizer, depending on how much you generally use, and apply. Watch your face transform as wonderfully as it does every day just like when you use foundation.

5. A quick shave

So, you’re rushing out the door to run some errands or go to work, and you’re putting on your shoes and you notice some tiny black spots near your ankle. Upon closer inspection, you realize that the hair on your leg has grown without you realizing it. A silent killer. You’ve already showered and you don’t have time to go in again. “I can’t go out like this! What do I do? I should just call them and tell them i’ll be late.” NO. There’s no need to panic, for we have the solution. Cold cream! It works just as well to get rid of hair and you don’t have to shower all over again. Also, you get moisturized at the same time! It’s a win-win… win!

PS: Ladies, always remember that the best accessory you have been gifted with is your smile. Be happy and wear a smile to look good and feel good, all day, every day.
