5 Healthy And Yummy Porridge Recipes

Porridge can be found on everyone’s list as a nutritional breakfast. So it is obviously the one of the best foods for your baby. We know porridge is an easily digestible source of nutrition for different ages, making it a delicious and healthy food for your baby because of its soft texture and the comfort it provides to the baby’s taste buds. Porridge is also the best when your baby is ill. Given below are five delicious as well as healthy recipes to prepare for you babies at least once.

1. Rice porridge with the addition of cereal

Should be given to/from: From 6 months

INGREDIENTS:

½ cup of water

2 tablespoons of homemade rice cereal powder (can be prepared from brown rice)

PREPARATION:

1. Add water in a pan and boil it.

2. Add homemade rice cereal powder into it and keep stirring to avoid lumps.

3. Continuously stir it till it the gains a thick and creamy texture.

4. You can also add breast milk or formula milk to thin the texture.

5. For adding sweetness, blend in a fruit of your choice

2. Ragi porridge

Should be given to/from: from 6 months

INGREDIENTS:

1 tablespoon of homemade ragi powder (can be prepared from ragi itself)

½ cup of water (or as per required)

PREPARATION:

1. Create a mixture of both ragi and water and keep mixing it, avoiding any lumps.

2. Now, put this mixture on the gas and heat it in medium flame for 5 to 10 minutes till the ragi is cooked well

3. Oats porridge

Should be given to/from: From 6 months

INGREDIENTS:

½ cup of organic oats.

Water (as per required)

PREPARATION:

1. After sterilizing the cooking vessel (by placing them in boiling water), boil the required amount of water.

2. Now, add the oats to the water and let it cook.

3. You can also add any fruit to add to its taste.

4. Remove the oats when fully cooked

4. Sabudana porridge

Should be given to/from: From 7 months

INGREDIENTS:

2 tablespoons of Sabudana

1 pinch of cardamom (elaichi) powder

1 pinch of almond powder

PREPARATION:

1. Wash the sabudana in running water till the water seems clear.

2. If the size of sabudana is small, soak for 15 to 20 minutes, but if it is large, soak it overnight.

3. Boil the water and add the sabudana till it turns translucent.

4. Add cardamom powder and almond powder when ready.

5. Sooji porridge

Should be given to/from: After 6 months

INGREDIENTS:

1 cup of sooji

2 teaspoon of ghee

1 pinch of cardamom powder

3 cups of water

PREPARATION:

1. Roast dry sooji in a tawa/pan.

2. To the pan, add 3 cups of water and boil them.

3. Now, add roasted sooji into the same pan and mix it (avoid any lump formation).

4. To avoid lump formation, keep stirring the sooji till it is almost cooked.

5. Add ghee to it.

6. Mix well and add a pinch of cardamom powder.

7. Add breast milk or formula to make it softer, if needed
