It is unfair to relate parenthood only to mothers. A husband plays a vital role in parenting his child, and his presence makes quite an impact on your child’s overall development. As a father, his parenting skills might differ from yours, but they tend to get the job done. You will definitely relate to these confessions from other mothers on their husband’s parenting skills.
“While I try to get my baby sleep for hours, he gets it done in two minutes. How?!”
This one is quite common. While you strain yourself trying to get your baby to eat a certain food or sleep or soothe their crying, husbands have a way of doing the task in a few minutes quite effortlessly. Your baby just needs a change of voice or a distraction, which men are experts at. This is the reason they are able to do this. However, this does not make you a bad parent in any way.
“I am trying to use different tones to teach my child, while my husband does just the opposite. It is impossible for me to teach my child anything.”
Parenting skills differ from one parent to the other. This is a result of being brought up in different environments. Taking control of the teaching period of your child will help your child grow in the best way. A clash in parenting might confuse your child. Use one method and stick to that. Put it across to your husband subtly. If he really wants to help, encourage him to reduce the burden of household chores.
“I am trying not to encourage junk food, but my husband bribes my child with junk food for everything.”
A child is easily bribed to do anything, and the situation gets worse when it comes from one of the parents. Discourage any such bad parenting, as it will come up in the worst form later.
“My husband is the carefree kind and I am an uptight mother. I am hoping this does not affect my child’s character.”
Two completely opposite parents tend to have an evidently different method of teaching their children. It does not affect their personality but instead accentuates a balance in their character. Let the carefree characteristics help your child enjoy the simple pleasures of life, while the seriousness will be balanced out by the other spouse.
“My husband solved the problem of my ailing baby within a few minutes after my day long’s attempt to solve it. My baby had a pair of uncomfortable shoes on.”
Sometimes a pleasant surprise lights up your entire day. The moment your husband finds out that a simple issue such as a shoe bite is causing discomfort to your child, they will tend to their little one and this can take you by surprise. Your husband is capable of being a good parent, so try not to underestimate him. Encourage him to take the reins once in awhile.
