It is quite common for your hormones to take a toll on your regular routine, immediately after becoming a mother. Although it gets less crazy after a while, for the time being, your husband might have to tolerate much more than just babies crying.

So here are 5 stories shared by new moms who tell us how their husbands survived their mood swings.

1. “He just bought all the flavours of ice-cream.”

Sometimes giving in to mood swings seems like the best option. Accompanied with mood swings come tremendous cravings for sweet treats, even after pregnancy. Indecisive cravings like these end up with the husband having to buy all the flavours of ice-cream in the shop. Fortunately or unfortunately, this phase lasts only for a couple of months.

2. “He just nods at anything I say!”

This might sound rude, but the best option for your husband to calm you down is this – listen to everything you have to say, and nod. This will help you to calm down. The moment he decides to reciprocate your rage is him inviting trouble. So, dear husbands, it is best to keep calm when a new mother is having a mood swing.

3. “He stacks the fridge with everything nice”

Husbands can be quite smart when it comes to their wife’s mood swings. Just stack the fridge up will all the goodies that might come in handy. This will avoid the difficulty of going out late at night to tend to the new mother’s needs. Keep a ton of ice cream and chocolate – it is always a lifesaver.

4. “He surprised me with warm water to soak my feet in”

Some husbands can be thoughtful as well while dealing with their wife’s mood swings. Just a tub of warm water to soak her sore feet in can melt her heart. Try anything thoughtful that might end up with your wife loving your caring side, rather than bombarding her with a temper tantrum.

5. “He got me imli and put the baby to sleep”

Cravings can be a huge reason for mood swings. Not listening to the cravings of the body can reduce the ability of the brain to process the lack of a certain nutrient. It is best to give into cravings while handling the situation calmly. Taking the kids to bed can mean more than you think. A new mother rarely gets the time to sleep. Try and put the kid to sleep while allowing your wife a few moments of silence.
