Loud gushes, squeals of joy, whispers and more greet a woman when she is expecting and ready to deliver. That is nothing uncommon, going by the way of the world but how many of these people sit down and tell you what to expect when you are delivering? Hardly a handful right? As such, a pregnant woman will be engulfed in a sea of emotions and apprehensions that it is so hard to understand what goes on in her mind. So a little comforting prep talk definitely goes a long way in helping her out.

But aren’t we living in an ironical world of not having enough time in hand to spend with friends and family? Sad but true! In such a situation, books tend to become our best friends and we try to find our answers there. It is however noticed that there are certain things which are forgotten to be included in parenting books related to delivery, one of the most important topics for a woman. Let’s spend some time and outline five facts about delivery which those books never mentioned.

Water-break

One of those sure-shot signs of indicating that the body is ready for delivery. It is important to know that a water-break is not a sudden gush of water rushing out like they show in the movies. In several cases, it happens so slowly that you won’t even realise that it occurred!

Maternity-wear

Start picking stretchable, comfy clothes once you are getting into your second trimester. They are definitely required for quite a long time and you don’t have to fuss over the spend!

More footfalls in the labour room

In cases of normal delivery, the labour room gets more and more occupied when the time nears for delivery. Nothing embarrassing about it, even if you poop, it gets cleared without a fuss! Remember that they are here to help you and not make fun of you.

Labour can take hours

A baby doesn’t pop just like that, quick easy and simple. It is initially coupled with lots of contractions which can sometimes go on for hours before the actual delivery happens. And again there are those heaves, sighs, pushes and more your little bundle of joy actually comes out.

Birth plan can change

Medical checks, scans etc., determine how the baby is delivered in the end. A normal delivery may need to be dumped in favour of a caesarean. So if you have meticulously prepared a birth plan in consultation with your doctor, then do be mentally prepared to be surprised at the eleventh hour, well at least sometimes it does happen.

In few emergency cases, you may find yourself with only a nurse and your doctor is nowhere in sight! Don’t panic, because experienced nurses can handle quite a lot of things just like doctors. You need to be calm and patient, breathe easy and not panic. Get the much needed support from your family and friends in this hour of need and it is okay to be clingy and nag quite a lot during this time, as it’s your hormones that are doing the talking!

Take lots of rest, eat well, sleep definitely is a luxury but do try to get it more frequently than ever. Be happy and cheerful as you prep yourself to might your bundle of joy or joys rather if you are expecting twins, triplets and more! Happy motherhood!
