5 things that make mallu moms so adorable

Moms are the sun to our planet earth and we cannot live without them. We might ask our mothers for several things, including the whereabouts of our belongings, but to our dad, we ask only one question – ‘Where’s mom?’

They care for you, pamper you and drive you crazy at times. There is no doubt that without them our life would be a lot less colourful. Different moms have different ways of showing their affection. Be it in the way of making amazing food for you or by calling you inappropriate names. Moms know how to show their love.

Mallu moms are no exception. Here are 5 things that make a mallu mom adorable.

1. Entertainment, Entertainment, Entertainment

Who needs TV shows or serials when you have one in your own house? You will get a free episode, full of drama and horror at the same time, from you oh-so-loving Mallu mum, whether it is a disagreement between your mother and your father or something you said that apparently hurt her. Make no mistakes, you may get annoyed by her dramatics skills at times, but it is one of those many things that actually lights up your life and makes living an easier task.

2. Aiyooo!

You have lost count of the many times that your mom has used this word. She says it all the time. She says it when she gets a minor burn while cooking, or when you mess something up, or when your dad gets home something entirely other than what she had asked for. This word defines the many moods and dispositions of your mom. So much so, that it is slowly seeping into your main vocabulary too!

3. You are extremely ‘duble patle’ according to her

No matter what you eat and how much you exercise, she is always going to make you eat that extra dosa or idli for breakfast. Your mom thinks that you eat too less and weak. Mallu moms are very good cooks and they also know how to make a variety of dishes for you to keep you from getting bored of the same repetitive food.

4. Frantic phone calls all the time

If you have a mallu mom, be rest assured that no one is ever going to kidnap you. And if someone does manage to do so, she is going to know about it. Your mom calls you almost after every hour to check on you. “Have you reached college?”, “Have you eaten breakfast?”, “Have you eaten lunch?”, “Did you get a cab to get back home?”, “Where are you?”, “Who are you with?”….the list is endless, but so is her love.

5. Short Names or Pet Names

If you are born in a Malayalam household, then you definitely have a pet name. If not that, then your mother probably calls you by a shorter version of your apparently long-winded name. Sometimes, you wish she’d named you something convenient in the first place rather than customising it to her convenience soon after the naming ceremony. Whether you like it or not, your inner self enjoys this cute name and you almost start wondering what’s wrong if your mother uses your full name to address you.
