The smile of a newborn baby is what each and every mother dreams about right from the day she realizes she is pregnant and through all the days until the delivery. The birth of a child is indeed one of the most amazing and beautiful marvels of nature and hence, it is normal to presume that all mothers, no matter how loving, caring or easy going they are, end up having some expectations of how this new life will be like. After all, it is the mothers who nurture a child even before he/she is born right from the womb.

Hence, it is not an oblivious fact that like everything else, human rationality will come in this beautiful phenomenon as well and of course there will be some hopes and expectations. Now, speaking of expectations, here are a few things that almost every mother wishes for during her delivery.

1. The physical features of the child

Like all the expectations in the world, it is no suspense that one of the most natural things to expect is what your child will look like. Whether the child is a girl or a boy, a mother’s love never falters. And yet, expecting that the child will be even more perfect and good-looking than anyone in the world is but an obvious fact.

2. Who does the baby look more like

Another thing that comes to the mind of both the mother and father is which one of them will the child look like.  And since the baby will have the features of both the mother and father, the next thing that a mother expects is that the child inherits the best of features from her and her husband.

3. The child’s nature

Although a child’s nature depends heavily on his/her upbringing, this has also been proven that the child’s core nature, irrespective of the upbringing, is decided to a certain extent in the mother’s womb itself. Now, if that truly is the case, then it is but obvious for every mother to expect that the child should be the best of both the mother and father. And that in itself is something that defines the child’s nature even more.

4. The child’s future

Sometimes, it so happens in some cases that the mother is already thinking about the child’s future and hence, brings into mind the different career paths the child might take. It is natural that the mother has her expectations and wants the child to become the best in how she pictures her child.

5. The birthing process

After having spent almost nine months thinking and expecting all that one can, and getting knowledge about everything that has happened, it finally comes to those last few days in the hospital after which, the new life will finally emerge. And as expected from any knowledgeable mother, the tension does rise about how the birthing process itself will be. It is scientifically stated that a mother feels the pain up to an intensity of approximately 20 bones breaking at the same moment when she gives birth. And something like that is indeed able to fill the mother’s heart with fear, especially when she is scared that she shouldn’t hurt the child. However, nature has given enough will power and strength to a mother to bear all this and still be able to form the very essence of life.

The phenomenon of giving birth is one of the most amazing things a person can ever feel and this responsibility has been given to mothers, as they are one of the most strongest beings that exist. The very fact that after bearing such immense and quite literally bone-breaking pain, they are still able to smile the moment they see their child.

So, expecting how your child would look like or how he/she will be is not wrong. It’s only the logical mind trying to cope with all the facts and mothers have all the rights in the world to expect that. As in the end, no matter what, a mother’s love for her child, irrespective of all the expectations, is in itself a force to reckon with.
