Diwali is just around the corner and I have already started preparing a lot of stuff. While I focus on cleaning the house, and shopping for new clothes and gifts, I’ve not ignored our family tradition. Every year, on Diwali, I make my first batch of besan ke ladoo. It’s very simple but can be difficult to get right. So here’s my recipe.
Ingredients:
- 300 gm besan/ chickpea flour
- ** choose besan which is a bit coarse and not super fine.
- 300 gm granulated sugar(use less or more as per choice)
- 200 gm ghee
- 100 gm crushed almonds
Method:
- In a heavy bottom, start by adding ghee and besan and roast.
- This may take around 20 mins on low flame.
- After that add the crushed almonds. Roast for some time.
- Make sure the mixture doesn’t burn.
- Now turn off the heat.
- Add the sugar (Please adjust according to your taste)
- Mix well. The besan mix will start to thicken. Now, wait till the mix is cool enough to handle.
- Make small round balls and enjoy! Gift them or offer as prasad.
Homemade ladoos are definitely more healthy and delicious. Make them today.
