Sania Mirza just recently gave birth to a baby boy and her husband and new daddy, cricketer Shoaib Malik took to Twitter to announce how happy he was. Baby Mirza Malik is going to be a very popular baby, given that both his mummy and daddy are famous sports personalities.

The baby has been named Izhaan, and Shoaib shared the name on Twitter too. “Thank you from the bottom of our heart to everyone for the wishes from Sania and I, and our families. Our son’s name is Izhaan #BabyMirzaMalik”.

But what stole our hearts is a recent picture of five-day-old Izhaan watching his dad doing what he does best.Sania shared a picture of the two of them watching Shoaib play cricket on the TV. There was another picture of three pairs of sports shoes and a very sweet caption. So it’s been 5 days since we came into this world. Me as a mother and my little Izhaan as my son.

We’ve even watched Baba play some cricket together since we’ve arrived it truly is the biggest match, tournament achievement I’ve ever won or had and there is no feeling or blessing that can be greater than this.. I finally have gotten sometime after this overwhelming feeling to get online and check the messges and love we have received.

Shoaib and I feel truly blessed and humbled with the wishes and love that us as parents and Izhaan have received. Thank you to each and every one of you ..we love you right back! Love Sania ,Shoaib and Izhaan.

Making a new father feel welcome into parenthood is also important as fathers do not know how to handle becoming a parent too. Many dads also show symptoms of postpartum depression and only if the dad is prepared will he support the new mom and baby.

Here’s how to sensitise a father for parenthood.

Talk to him

Give him not a negative, but a real picture of parenthood. He must know what his wife and he will go through after delivery. He can be counseled by doctors or experienced friends and family regarding his role.

Tell him to be the support

Tell him to be supportive towards his wife and help her with the new baby as much he can.

Have your own celebration

Yes, there’s no harm in having your own little ‘celebration’ after the baby is born. It could be a movie online, a special dish or a joke shared together. After all, both mom and dad need to wind down

Tell him it’s ok not to be perfect

Just like we need to tell moms that they’re doing well, dads also need an assurance that they’re doing a good job with managing things.
