Celebrate Joy Of Giving Week With Your Kid At NGOs In Bangalore

Food, medicine, education and love - A small list that most of us take for granted. Remove just one of those four essentials and the idea of a happy, healthy life is no longer comprehensible. As one of the fastest developing nations in the world, it's about time we start doing our part in making sure that everyone has equal opportunity and freedom. And a great place to start would be at the beginning, with children.

Here are a few of Bangalore's most dedicated organizations, to which you might want to pay a visit with your child:

1. Magic Bus India Foundation

Almost 15 years old, Magic Bus is one of the fastest growing and organized NGOs in the country. With a holistic mentoring system, this multi-award winning organization strives to help underprivileged children develop academically and socially. The Bangalore branch is located in Richmond Town. How can you contribute? They have an extensive and growing volunteer network. Interested applicants can write to volunteer@magicbusindia.org. Magic Bus has several crowdfunded campaigns to which you can make a donation starting from Rs. 500.

2. U & I

A solely Bangalore based youth organization, U&I provides some of the city's most impactful tutorship and mentorship opportunities. Students and young professionals teach underprivileged students and at-risk youth, improving their academics and employability. How can you contribute? U&I lets you do your part in a number of ways such as: Sponsor a child, Provide a child with an English course, Organize workshops and Dedicate time (2.5 hours of your day)


Established in 1980, the Bangalore Oniyavara Seva Coota or BOSCO is an initiative by the Salesians of Don Bosco to provide homes, counselling and health care to underprivileged youth. Their main mission is to help and guide these children to become educated, responsible and contributing members of society. 4. Nirmaan

Founded in 2005 by BITS Pilani Alumni, Nirmaan was a citizen movement to empower India with 'one child' at a time. They aim to provide grassroots level social innovation and education and encourage volunteerism. How can you contribute? Nirmaan has a large volunteer network. Contact them at contact@nirmaan.org if you would like to apply. Donations can be made through online transfer or you can send a cheque/DD in favour of Nirmaan Organization, sent to their postal address.

5. MAD- Make a Difference

Just as its name suggests, the Make a Difference foundation or MAD, is a youth initiative to provide education and life skills to underprivileged children through a series of activities, workshops and field trips.You can visit them at their Bangalore head office in HSR layout or visit the website for a chance to volunteer and donate.

How can you contribute? With Make a Difference foundation, you can volunteer as a teacher by writing to contact@makeadiff.in. You can also donate to specific projects on their website.
