Teaching children the alphabet is the foundation stone for every parent to make their children learn how to read. Before putting together sounds or drawing together lines that make words, children should know what they are doing. For parents, teaching their children alphabets right from the basics can be pretty challenging. Teaching letters can be entertaining and straightforward, but it can be very tiring too. In this article, you will find some easy ways to teach the alphabet to preschoolers.

1. Sing Alphabet Songs

Singing an A-B-C song to your child can be a great start. But you may also pick some other alphabet songs that can add variety and help kids learn the alphabet in different ways. However, do not let your child only memorize the music. Help them to point out the alphabets too while having fun while singing.

2. Play Letter Matching Game

Letter matching games are easy to set up. Take the help of those toxin-free plastic alphabet letters and then put those letters on the object related to the letter. For example, if you have an apple at home, show it to your child and put the letter A on it. And next, you ask your child that what object stands for the letter B and so on. Help your child initially to bring confidence and fun to the game.

3. Use Flash Cards with Colourful Picture

Flashcards are of great help when it comes to teaching alphabets to any preschooler. Flashcards are cards that come in a thick laminated paper format imprinted with alphabets and related pictures. These cards help a child to learn as well as identify the everyday objects correctly. These cards are easy, safe to use, and not easy to tear as well.

4. Do Not Rush to Teach

While teaching alphabets to your child, you need to maintain patience. Learning takes some time in children, but eventually, with continuous practice and support, the whole process will get easy for your child to learn alphabets.
