The beauty of a love story is that it can take many different forms, from the sweet and innocent to the passionate and tumultuous.

Celebrity Mums’ Love Stories

Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor

During an interview with India Today, Alia said, “When I saw him for the first time on screen, that was the day I decided that I wanted to marry him. That was when I was a sweet little girl. But that’s what I meant and I feel it’s a state of mind.” Ranbir was the only man Alia wanted to marry and the universe made it happen!

For Alia and Ranbir it all started on a flight to Tel Aviv, Israel, when they got a seat next to each other. The two were going to attend a workshop for their film, ‘Brahamastra’. In a conversation on Koffee With Karan, Alia revealed, “It was not meant to happen. We were not supposed to be together on New Year’s. We both talked on our flight to Tel Aviv to do a workshop for Brahmastra. We both were seated together. I remember him walking in, and he was supposed to sit next to me, and I was very excited. But then he sat next to me, and something got stuck in his seat. There was some malfunction, so they were going to move him to another seat. And I was like, why is this happening, why is my dream getting shattered? But later, his seat got fixed, and he came back.”

She also shared that Ranbir too was upset when the seat malfunctioned and that’s where the vibe started for the two and the rest is history!

Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Nick Jonas

It was on 8 September 2016 when Nick Jonas sent a message to Priyanka Chopra on Twitter. He wrote, “I’m hearing from a few mutual friends that we should meet.” In an interview with Vogue Priyanka confirmed that it was Nick who sent the first message and Nick said she responded to it after a day saying, ‘My team can read this. Why don’t you just text me.’

After that, the two kept messaging each other back and forth, till they finally met in February 2017 for the first time at the 2017 Vanity Fair Oscar Party. Nick got down on one knee and told her, ‘You’re real. Where have you been all my life?’

They met again a second time in New York for a drink one week before the Met Gala. That evening, Priyanka invited Nick to her apartment, where he also met her mum for the first time. The two attended the Met Gala together in May.

In the same interview, Nick’s brother Joe Jonas revealed that Priyanka knocked Nick off his feet! The two lovebirds who are now parents to little Malti Marie have been giving everyone romance goals ever since.

Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli

Their love story started when they met in 2013, for a commercial for a shampoo brand together. According to Virat, their first meeting was weird and he was nervous. Anushka arrived in high heels and looked taller than Virat to which he joked and said “Didn’t you find bigger heels?” and Anushka just excused him. Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma met for the first time in 2013

During the shoot which lasted for three days, they realised that they had a lot in common and connected. “Our lives were going at the same pace but in totally different worlds. We came into the scene in the same year but we didn’t know each other until 2013. That is the year we met. Our lives have been so similar but in totally different worlds,” said Virat.

That was the starting point of a beautiful relationship for the two of them.

Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja

Sonam Kapoor revealed in an interview with Filmfare that she had met Anand for the first time when her friends were trying to set her up with his best friend. This was in 2015, during the promotion of her film Prem Ratan Dhan Payo

Her friends had conned her to go on a date where they had called 2-3 boys and Anand Ahuja was one of them. “I saw Anand and his friend. His friend was tall like me, liked reading like me and was a huge fan of Hindi movies. He was an educated and a nice guy. But he reminded me too much of my brother Harsh (Kapoor). I was like, ‘Dude, he’s Harsh. I’m not going to date this guy’,” Sonam said.

Instead, it was Sonam and Anand who ended up clicking, even though their interests were different. Sonam revealed, “No one would think of Anand and me together because Anand is totally different. He had no idea that Anil Kapoor was my father. I ended up speaking to Anand… the whole evening. Anand was trying to get me to talk to his friend… like being the middle man. But we ended up talking more.”

After their first meeting, Anand connected with Sonam on Facebook and was still trying to set her up with his friend but Sonam was not interested. Slowly Sonam and Anand started talking over the phone and eventually fell in love. Anand proposed to her a month later and now the two are happily married and parents to their son Vaayu.

Bipasha Basu and Karan Singh Grover

It was in 2015 during the shooting of their film, Alone, that Biapasha Basu and Karan Singh Grover met for the first time. By the end of the film, they fell in love, but their love story was not easy. While Bipasha was in a relationship with actor John Abraham, Karan had been married twice before to actors Shraddha Nigam and Jennifer Winget.

Bipasha’s family was not happy with the relationship as they were worried about Karan’s failed marriages earlier. “Failed marriage is not the sign that the human being has to be wrong. So, it’s not that they should be condemned. Like for me, I explained to my parents that the kind of relationship that I had was longer and it’s much bigger than his marriage. It’s just that I did not sign a piece of paper. So how does it make me different from him? Relationships don’t work out, it’s unfortunate but in the longer run when you look back you are always happier. It’s always said that things happen in your life for a reason and it’s always true,” said Biapasha.

However, they overcame all obstacles and finally tied the knot in 2016 and are now parents to a baby girl, Devi.

Mira Rajput Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor

When Shahid Kapur was asked in an interview why he choose Mira Rajout as his wife, he said, “I didn’t choose her. Maybe you should ask why she chose me. I was 13-and-a-half years older than her. We met through family, and we were unassuming enough to be open to meeting each other. We got along from the time we met, and it just happened. It was meant to happen. When I look back even I wonder, ‘Yeh kaise ho gaya?’”

For Mira and Shahid, it was not love at first sight but an arranged marriage where they slowly started falling in love with each other. They never went on mushy romantic dates before they got married but have been making up for it ever since.

Talking about how and when he fell in love with his wife, he said, “I’m still falling in love with her….a bit more every day. The first time we met, we spoke for seven hours. We were at a friend’s farmhouse in Delhi. We went for a walk outside and the sun was setting behind her. I realised her eyes were not dark. They had a hazel tinge. That moment, I felt shayad main iss ladki se shaadi kar sakta hoon. But I also told myself, ‘What are you thinking? Bees saal ki hai besharam!'”

Masoom Minawala and Shailin Mehta

As Masoom puts it, they come from two different worlds. While Masoom Minawala is a fashion blogger and CEO of an E-commerce brand Style Fiesta, her husband Shailin Mehta is a diamond merchant from Belgium.

The two met through common friends and fell in love over the phone. “We had only seen each other once (for 15 minutes) before we fell in love over the phone. He called, then I called and we never stopped calling each other and it just seemed so easy and effortless to be around him,” shared Masoom.

She then met him in London when she went to do a short fashion course and he was also studying at Nottingham University. Masoom stated, “On the first day that I reached London, Shailin flew in from Belgium to meet me. He came over to my apartment (he helped me find this apartment btw) to meet me for the very first time after we fell in love in 3 months just talking on the phone! Once he saw my apartment and was satisfied that everything was set up just right for when I would be living alone, we stepped down to go for a little walk, after which he was meant to go over to his friends. Little did I know that Shailin had other plans. He asked a friend of his to get into my flat and drop a surprise on my bed. Don’t worry, the friend didn’t sneak in, Shailin knew the landlord and asked him a set of spare keys to set up this little jig. He dropped me off at my doorstep and when I walked in..what do I find on my bed? A beautiful orange dress with a note that said “Wear this & be ready in 15 Minutes, I’m taking you somewhere special!”.

She says it was like a story straight out of a romantic novel. It was in the London Eye, while they were in the glass bubble that Shailin held her hands and asked her to be his girlfriend. The two are now happily married and parents to their baby son Zavi Mehta.

Love stories remind us that life is worth living and that even in the darkest moments, there is always hope for something better. They show us that no matter what obstacles we may face, love can conquer all. Love stories have the power to move us, inspire us, and make us believe in the impossible.
