Your baby can’t talk or communicate like adults, but they sure do talk to you with all their cues and cries. With our careful observation, we have discovered that there are 5 types of cries. Babies tend to have different cries for different emotions. Though you might be a pro at guessing what they mean, some parents would like a guide to tell them what their little baby’s cry means. For those parents especially, this guide will be of help.
It is when he or she has a rhythmic, repetitive cry combined with sucking on her thumb. You need to respond to these cries quickly because if you don’t, he or she might start gulping air while eating. This leads to them feeling more uncomfortable.
A high-pitched, panicked cry denotes that they are hurt and stuck somewhere. Attend to them quickly to make sure that they are not hurt too bad and make sure that you have your baby’s first-aid kit in hand. You can soothe them by picking them up and rocking them. As a mother, you will know what method of calming works best on them.
This is when the baby is really tired but is not getting a chance to sleep. You might have noticed this when your baby is being picked up and cuddled by a lot of people when he/she is extremely tired. You will notice this when they are crying and are moving a lot and wiggling out of everyone’s arms. All you have to do is take them to a quiet place and they will sleep.
These are the nasal-sounding cries. Sick and uncomfortable cries sound pretty much the same, so look at the situation and judge. A difference that can be noticed between these two are that when your child is sick, they tend to become red and flushed. You can also check this by checking their temperature.
Get ready for a whiny, nasal and fussy cry. He or she may try to turn herself away from everything and start crawling towards a more quiet place. Or if that is not possible for them, they might quiet down themselves and not laugh or smile when entertained. They might rub their eyes, cover their face and move around when they are crying.
Babies tend to cry a lot as it is their only way of communication. So, understanding the reason, while it can be a little hard sometimes, is very important for you as a parent. Don’t be too hard on yourself, as you won’t know the reason for their cries immediately. Give it some time and you will eventually understand your baby and all their cues.
