Does Your Partner’s Height Have An Influence On Your Relationship

“Tall, Dark and Handsome” is the description of the perfect man for most of the women. To catch you by surprise, one of those attributes have been scientifically proven to be influencing the relationship you have with your partner. After analyzing data from 7850 married women researchers at Konkuk University in Seoul of South Korea, it is proved that the taller the man than his wife, the happier will be the wife and in turn, happier will be the married life. According to another study from the sociologists of Rice University in Houston and the University of North Texas in Denton, it is mostly women who preferred to have a taller partner whereas to most of the men, the height of the partner didn’t matter. And the men, to whom the height of the partner mattered, they preferred the women with shorter height.

Why Women Desire Taller Men?

Women are perceived as submissive delicate darlings whereas men are perceived as the strong and the potential protector of the family since ages. Also, the height of men indicates authoritative behaviour. Besides these reasons, the women feel more feminine around taller men. Hence, the answer to why women desire taller men is probably because of “Evolution Theory”.

According to a researcher Kitae Sohon, “Similarly to people favouring fatty, salty and sugary foods without knowing exactly why: such foods are essential to survival but were scarce as humans evolved — so yearning for such foods increased reproductive fitness of women in the past. Women evolved to prefer tall men because they were perceived to be stronger, and naturally, they are happy when they have what they like”. And, apparently, the female preference for taller men did increase the reproductive fitness of women but the downside of this is, pleasure derived from the height of partner dissipates gradually. And the complete dissipation takes place within 18 years.

But whatever the reason might be, now, we all have a perfect excuse to chuck all our uncomfortable high heels and let our partners be taller than us.

Are shorter men undesirable?

If your partner is a short man, no need to panic. Another recent study states that short men like Mr. Perfectionist of Bollywood, Mr. Aamir Khan and American Actor and Producer, Mr. Tom Cruise, have a higher income and make better boyfriends or husbands, standing head and toe above their much taller peers. Also, they are more likely to share the housework and might be the breadwinner of the house. Above all, if you and your partner are of the same height, it would be better as you could look into each other’s eye-to-eye without struggling to look up or look down.

Having a taller partner or a shorter partner, both have its positives and negatives. But no matter if you are like Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan or Daniel Radcliffe and Erin Darke, all you need is consistency in love for each other to be happy in life.
