Even before your child reaches the age of one, they learn how to express their feeling in the form of expressions. Every mood your child expresses is a way of communicating to you. Notice every one of them and try to communicate with them, as they will be encouraged to do the same.

Here, we tell you a few ways in which you can recognise your baby’s moods.

1. Sleepy

When your baby gets cranky, it is a sign that they might be sleepy. They might breath faster and struggle to keep their head upright. Eyes barely staying open is a symptom of a sleepy baby. The moment you see these signs, make sure to help your baby sleep. Prolonging their sleep time can make them cranky and unpleasant to be around.2.

2. Crying

Of course, all mothers know of this mood that defines a child’s pastime. Your child crying can reduce your nap time or make you rush out of the shower. Crying is a way of getting your attention. The best you can do is tend to your child’s needs at the moment, be it nursing, changing or sudden disturbances. Your child knows they will be comforted by your presence around them, and it is best to give your child the needed attention while they are young.

3. Attentive

There are times when your child is quite alert, either while you are reading them a bedtime story or while you are trying to teach them something. Cherish the short span of mood, as your child understands the thing you are trying to tell them. They usually look calm, alert, quiet and stare at your face as you move your mouth.

4. Annoyed

Your child will show signs of irritation when you try to feed them food that they absolutely dislike. Throwing a tantrum when they do not your attention or when they do not get something they want is common. Do not anger your child in any way. Give them what they need. Sometimes, your child is cranky because of an internal irritation, either rashes or tummy upset. Look for all the signs of pain or discomfort before you tend to your child accordingly.
