Diaper duty can be a messy situation for new fathers. It is one of the most important things they need to learn! With about ten to twelve diaper changes in a newborn, learning some hacks can make it easier. Read on to know how to make diaper duty easier.

5 Diaper Duty Hacks For New Fathers

1. Catch Your Baby’s Attention

As a father, you know your baby well, so try doing things that distract your baby during a diaper change. This will make the entire process easier and babies tend to wriggle a lot. You can give your baby his/her favourite toy, make funny faces or even sing to your baby. Use this time to bond with your baby.

2. Know What to Expect

The baby poop, urine and nasty smell are not pleasant to experience. So before you take off your baby’s dirty diaper, place a clean diaper beneath the dirty one so that you have to lift him/her only once.

Store the diapers in a baby diaper bag or diaper storage box so that you have those diapering essentials handy. Go for baby-friendly natural wipes to clean your baby’s diaper area gently.

3. Practice

Practice makes a man perfect and it’s no different in the case of diaper duty too! So the father can practice changing diapers before the baby arrives. Suddenly doing it can get overwhelming with the load of responsibilities that comes after the baby is born. Hence, practising will get you used to how the diaper duty needs to be done.

Apply a natural baby powder so that the diaper area remains dry.

4. Swap Cloth Pads with Plastic Changing Pad

Avoid using a cover that needs washing after each use as things get extra messy. Instead, use a plastic changing pad which is much easier to use. Cloth cover pads need to be washed and dried which will only increase the diaper task load.

5. Use Natural Products

Since your baby wears diapers all day, diaper rashes are very common. Moreover, there are irritants from stool, urine, moisture or cleaning products. Go for a soothing and natural diaper rash cream to give your baby relief from discomfort. Sing a song or cheer them up while you’re at it.

Diaper duty can be tiring but using these simple hacks, it can get organised and prevent your little one from feeling uncomfortable. If you are a father looking for making things easier, these hacks will save your day.
