A healthy baby is a happy baby. When it comes to eating food, a mother usually has a tough time feeding her baby. Sometimes it is the tantrums and other times it’s just the mood of the child. Everybody tries to tell her to be calm and let the child pick what he wants to eat. But nothing is simple, you know!

Food is such a necessity when it comes to becoming healthy and developing an immune system. Somehow this idea is never convincing enough for any mom because she always wants the best for her baby. Parents feel horrible and experience a sort of failure when they see that their toddler is unable to gain weight.

Out of frustration and long sleepless nights, parents end up feeding their children a lot of junk food which results in their kids becoming unhealthy and overweight. To avoid so much trouble, here are 6 tips exclusively from experienced mommies…only for you:

1.Never force feed

Force feeding is the worst thing to do to your child. It will only encourage them to spit food and induce vomiting. So, instead try to sit with them and eat your food with them. Become a role model for your child! Yes, even when you are feeding them. Kids have a habit of aping adults and their behaviour, so this might actually aid your child to eat right.

2.Plan their menu

Make simple yet delicious food which is easy to eat and digest. Good source of weight gain is through food rich in proteins like eggs, peanut butter, yoghurt and cheese. You can make yummy and quick things out of white bread, mashed potatoes!

Grilled Sandwiches with cheese and potato filling is quite popular among little kids and the nutrition contents are full of carbohydrates and proteins which are a necessity for your child’s overall growth.

3. Fluids are your toddler’s besties

When your toddler is watching something on tv, you can quickly trick him into drinking juice anytime! All you need to do is pour it in a sippy cup and watch your little one slurp it with joy. You can make a number of healthy smoothies like:

Fruity Delight

Blend high-calorie milk, yoghurt and fruits your child loves!

Grape Smoothie

Blend fresh milk rich in fats, concentrated grape juice together and serve fresh!

Tangy orange

Blend vanilla ice cream and orange juice together and fill the sippy cup! It is an excellent source of Vitamin C and good amount of calories to help your toddler put on some weight.

4.Involve your kids while you’re cooking

So if you’re making chapatis, why don’t you ask your toddler to help you out a bit! You can cut out different and fun shapes out of your chapati. Kids love abstract shapes, so why don’t you buy a few moulds of different shapes so that your child too can cut the chapatis. Seeing hot food being prepared can induce hunger in anybody!

Pro tip: smear some ghee and sprinkle some salt on your toddler’s chapatis! Highly nutritious food with the goodness of carbohydrates, essential minerals and proteins in just one chapati!

5. Don’t sell your meal to your kid

Don’t go overboard while trying to convince your child to eat. Saying things like “ Mmm..this is so delicious!! Yummmyyy!!! Smells soo good!!!” etc will just make your child suspicious about the food. Instead just let it be and he shall get curious on his own.
