Besan also known as chickpea flour is commonly found in the kitchen. This ingredient can be used to thicken curries, make drinks, sweet dishes, pakoras and some delicious toddler tiffin recipes too. 1. Besan Halwa

This sweet dish is not just delicious but also works as a home remedy for colds in kids.
Ingredients
½ cup ghee
½ cup sugar
1½ cup besan
2 tbsp chopped cashew
2 tbsp rava (semolina)
2 cups milk
2 tbsp saffron milk
¼ tsp cardamom powder

Preparation
1. Heat the ghee in a big kadhai and then add the besan.

2. Also, add the rava and then roast on low flame by stirring continuously.

3. Roast for about 30 minutes.

4. Add the milk 30 minutes after the besan turns golden brown and stir well.

5. Keep stirring continuously so that there are no lumps and the besan absorbs all the milk.

6. Cook until the mixture separates from the pan and then add the sugar and saffron milk. 

7. Mix well until the sugar dissolves completely and separates the pan.

8. For garnishing, add cashews and cardamom powder and it’s ready.

2. Egg and Besan Cheela

Besan and egg cheela is an excellent tiffin recipe for toddlers and is also super easy to make. 

Ingredients
1/2 diced zucchini
1 diced tomato
Oil
1/2 cup besan
1 egg
Water
Salt

Preparation
1. Mix water and besan together. Once you make a mix, add eggs, vegetables and salt.
2. Add 1 tsp oil to a non-stick flat pan and spread it. Take a deep spoon and fill the mix to the brim. Then spread it evenly in the pan clockwise.
3. Turn the cheela on both sides to cook properly. Then cut the cheela into fun shapes to pack in your toddler’s tiffin.

3. Besan Toast

Make the regular bread toast interesting by adding besan to it and turning it into a bread toast.
Ingredients
1 cup besan
1 pinch of asafoetida
¼ tsp turmeric
½ tsp dry mango powder
½ tsp red chilli powder (optional)
4 slices bread
¼ tsp carom seeds
¼ tsp salt
½ cup water
1 finely chopped green chilli
¼ tsp ginger paste
2 tbsp finely chopped onion
2 tbsp finely chopped capsicum
1 tbsp finely chopped coriander leaves
Oil 

Preparation

  1. Add besan to a large mixing bowl. Then mix the turmeric, chilli powder, dry mango powder, carom seeds, a pinch of asafoetida and salt. 
  2. Add half a cup of water and whisk until it turns smooth.
  3. Then add the green chilli, ginger paste, onion, capsicum and coriander leaves. Mix well to get a thick flowy consistency.
  4. After that, dip bread slices into the besan batter and cover both sides.
  5. Heat a flat pan with oil and toast on low flame. Flip over to cook both sides until the besan gets cooked completely. The bread will turn crisp once it’s cooked.
  6. Pack the toast with tomato sauce for your toddler’s tiffin.

4. Rice and Besan Pancake

If you have leftover rice, make this quick rice and besan recipe for kids.
Ingredients

2 cups cooked rice
1/2 cup besan
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 cup rice flour
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/4 cup chopped coriander leaves
1 tsp chopped green chillies
Salt to taste
Oil 

Preparation
1. In a bowl, pour all the ingredients except the oil.
2. Then add half a cup of water. Mix properly to make a thick and smooth batter.
3. Heat a non-stick pan and grease it with little oil. Then pour a spoonful of batter and spread it gently.
4. Cook using a little bit of oil until the pancake turns golden brown on both sides.
5. Repeat the process to make other pancakes and they’re ready.
