Everything you should know before the due date
You’ve been daydreaming about what it would be like to finally have your baby out of your womb and in your arms whenever you want. What you can do to make that special time with your little one even more special is to be prepared beforehand. This would make your survival as a new mommy so much easier than walking into the battlefield completely unprepared.
With a whole new person to nurture, you’re going to have no time for yourself the first few months. However, these are also the most important months for recovery. To get yourself out of this dilemma, we suggest you stock up on food. Keep as much frozen food at handy which you can just just whip up at any given instant. Keep some pasta, lasagne or any type of food you don’t have to cook for hours, as it would be very difficult to make the time.
Once you’ve taken care of yourself, you’ve got to be ready for the guest of honour. It’s going to be a nightmare having to run to the grocery store every other day, especially since you can’t leave them alone for that long. Buy as many diapers, nappies, bibs, tissues, formula bottles, detergents and stain removers you need. Always buy a little more than you think you’d need, to keep yourself one step ahead in case of emergencies.
Stall the visitors
Once the baby is here, you’ll have hoards of family and friends wanting to pay a visit. Try and stall them as much as possible, as this is some sacred time you get to spend with your new family. This is time you’re going to cherish for the rest of your life, and you don’t want to do that along with having to entertain a bunch of visitors at the door.
Ask for help
Remember, just because you were the one who delivered the baby, he’s not entirely your responsibility. You’ve taken care of them for nine months, and now it’s time to share the burden. Don’t feel any form of guilt or anxiety in asking your husband to take over for you when you can’t handle it anymore. It’s nothing to be embarrassed or ashamed about. Physical or mental exhaustion would lead you to do a sub standard job with the baby, so it’s best to ask for help. If you want some alone time with your partner, ask your parents to step in for you.
Dress them right
Babies find it hard to regulate their body temperature till they reach 6 months of age. Which is why it’s important for you to dress them appropriately according to the climate outside and prepare for the next season too.
