Good News Ladies!! It’s finally official. New research has found out that nagging mommies actually raise better daughters. Now you can keep asking questions to your daughter, keep giving them advice and you will have the backing of the best thing in the world that you could have ever imagined- Science.
We have all had experienced our own mother’s questions and doubts and even advises and lectures. When we were young, we did not use to like this continuous pestering and interference from them but now we understand that everything they said was actually for our own benefit. And that’s not all, we too start running after our children to make them eat the best of the food and be well, focus on their future, not be too naughty etc. Your daughters might not like these things but it has been scientifically proven that your lectures and unwanted advice actually make them a better person.
As per the research conducted by Ericka Rascon-Ramirez from the University of Essex, it was found that “behind every successful woman is a nagging mom”. The research analyzed survey data from the lives of 15,000 school girls aged 13 and 14 from 2004 to 2010. Ramirez found that “the measure of expectations in this study reflects a combination of aspirations and beliefs about the likelihood of attending higher education reported by the main parent, who, in the majority of cases is the mother.”
Basically, the girls whose mothers had higher expectations tried to push their daughters towards higher goals while also helping them make better life choices. These girls also have higher chances of building a successful career and even earning better wages as they will strive to keep up with the expectations of their family and especially their mothers.
So, all you nagging mothers- Keep Up The Good Work. By continuously pinpointing different things in your daughter’s life you are not only making your own desires known but you are also helping them strive to be the best person they can become. No matter how much they make faces or even try to fight with you, you are actually helping them make sensible choices. Even if they don’t listen to you, subconsciously they are actually focusing on everything you have said and will definitely shape their future as per your expectations in most of the way.
Children are truly the most wonderful of beings in nature with their innocence, cuteness and inquisitiveness. Though we always want to bring out the best in them, putting too much pressure might go in a negative way. Be concerned about them, keep directing them to the best of your abilities and they will surely make you the proudest mother of all.
