So, your little bundle of joy is growing up fast and with that his/her inquisitiveness has increased to whole new levels. And now it is time for him/her to have an experience of what school is going to be like. But, before that school pressure comes on your child, you want them to have a lighter experience of learning and being away from you. So, what do you do? Where do you send them? Well, we have the answer- Pre school. A place where your child will learn, play and grow while getting prepared for what lies ahead.

But, Preschools can themselves be a hectic task for both of you. It is the first time your child is going away from you and is gonna spend their time in an unknown environment with completely unknown people. So obviously, there have to be some questions in your mind regarding the pre-school choice. And having these questions is normal and even healthy. Both you and your little baby are gonna miss each other. But, we know that learning and exploring new things is very important for a youngling. This is the stage when they are the most inquisitive and when they need the best of everything and anything they can get. Yet, effective development can happen only if the child likes the environment s/he is in and so, it is important that the preschool too gives a homely feeling where the child adjusts easily. It is really important that this transition for your child is as smooth as it can be and fun as well.

But finding this homely school or a home away from home as we would say is somewhat difficult. As such, there are certain points that need to be taken into account before deciding this second home of your child and we have made one such list of points which will definitely help you.

1. Learning

Pre-schools are a place where your child learns different things in fun and creative ways. Especially at an early age, children learn a lot of things and it is important to have an inquisitive environment which not only teaches the little ones but also promotes a learning environment. This learning need not only be with pencil and paper but can also be done with new and innovative ways like puppets, drawings, songs etc.

2. Ambience

The atmosphere of the school as a whole will determine if your child will have a fun time learning or not. Also, a healthy and lively environment will go long way in improving the child’s overall knowledge and experience. So, it is important that the place where your child is going to not only teaches them but also appreciates their efforts and helps them use their true potential. As an example of which having your child’s work put up on display boards and walls will give them a sense of achievement and they will strive to do even better.

3. Nurturing

We have all heard that the environment of a school should be nurturing but have we understood what it actually means? Nurturing in simple words means providing an environment for the overall growth and development of the child. It includes good facilities and inspiring mentors. Besides having a learning environment, it is also important to see if the facilities available for the child are nurturing or not. So, when deciding the play school, keep an eye on the student-teacher ratio, the type, and quality of facilities available and the ability of the staff and the teachers themselves.

4. Health and Safety

A toddler doesn’t have his/her immune system developed completely and thus it is normal that they might fall sick sometimes. But, what is important is that there are proper facilities available to take care of the child. It is the responsibility of the institution to take care of them and if some accident happens then they should be well versed in first-aid. Especially if there is a doctor on call or not. Safety of the child too should be of paramount importance and thus you should have a look at the safety measures installed. Hence, take care whether the toys are non-toxic or not, health check-ups are done by pediatric experts and if the furniture is child-friendly or not.

5. Monitoring Developments

Just teaching the children will not work. Having a feedback loop with proper monitoring and assessment is important. So, there must be a proper system for monitoring the child’s development in place. This will not only help the school but will also help you in knowing the progress of your child and what more to do to improve if required.

6. Partnership and Communication

In a child’s growth and learning, parents and teachers are almost equally responsible. Hence, it is important that you are kept in the loop so that you are also up to date with what your child has been doing and learning. Thus, while choosing the preschool, you should know the level of involvement of parents in school and how efficiently and creatively they are doing it.

Keeping these points in mind, we bring to you a pre-school which will truly be a home away from home for your little darling and will help them grow, play and even make friends with so many more children just like him/her.
